Is Daisy Ridley the new Lara Croft?
In recent days we have heard many rumors about the actress to play Lara Croft in the new film franchise based on the video game "Tomb Raider". Names like: Elizabeth Olsen, Nicola Peltz, Camilla Luddington (the voice of Lara in the games) and now Daisy Ridley - the actress who plays Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Daisy Ridley could take over as Lara Croft in Warner Bros. and MGM's Tomb Raider reboot. The British actress is reportedly is among "one of a number of actresses" being considered for the role.
Played by Angelina Jolie in the original films, Croft is an archaeologist and adventurer who originated in the Tomb Raider video game franchise. The project, which has been in development for years, is said to have been reinvigorated after Square Enix rebooted the franchise with Tomb Raider and its follow up, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
According to Deadline, Square Enix's "younger take" on the character has inspired the producers' creative process. However, conversations are still in the early stages, and no official offers have been made yet. Deadline did not name other actresses being considered for the role.
The only confirmed information at the moment is that Roar Uthaug will be the director of the film, screenplay by Evan Daugherty and will be produced by Graham King.
Rise of the Tomb Raider released in November of last year on Xbox One and 360, and the last january in PC.
