Warner Bros hires Misha Green as director and scriptwriter of Tomb Raider sequel
Warner Bros just announced an unexpected news regarding the sequel to the Tomb Raider (2018) film starring Alicia Vikander. The news in question is that the project completely changes direction and scriptwriter (before the direction was under the command of the British Ben Wheatley and the script by Amy Jump) now, the project passes into the hands of Misha Green who will act as both director and screenwriter of the film.
Misha Green is currently directing and writing the HBO series Lovecraft Country, and Tomb Raider 2 will be her next project.
We do not know the reasons why Warner has decided to dispense with the script already written by Amy Jump and the direction of Ben Wheatley, it is possible that due to the continuous delays due to the pandemic both creators decided to abandon the project to focus on new ones, or Perhaps the break is the product of a creative confrontation with the production company.
Tomb Raider will be produced by Graham King via his GK Films banner, and Elizabeth Cantillon via The Cantillon Company.
The film will continue to star Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft and will be produced and distributed by Warner Bros and United Artist.
