Lara Croft receives a star on the Derby´s Walk of Fame (UK).

The character of Lara Croft, created in Derby in 1996 by the CORE DESIGN studio, has received a star on the Derby Walk of Fame in recognition of her career.

Some former employees of the studio were invited to the celebration: Tomb Raider composer Nathan McCree, lead programmer Gavin Rummery and level designer Heather Stevens attended the presentation event, which was covered by Derby Telegraph.

Core Design produced a series of successful video games that include Rick Dangerous, Thunderhawk, Project Eden and Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider became one of the most successful video game franchises of all time with total sales of 74 million units to date.
