Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Tomb Raider” film has found its Lara Croft. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Ex Machina” star Alicia Vikander has signed on to play Croft as she undertakes her first adventure. The film will follow Vikander’s “young and untested” Lara Croft.

In addition to “Ex Machina,” the Swedish actress has appeared in “The Danish Girl” and “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” She has also had roles in “Seventh Son,” “Burnt,” “Anna Karenina” and “A Royal Affair,” among other films. She will also star in Matt Damon’s upcoming “Jason Bourne” film.

Roar Uthaug (“The Wave”) is on board to direct the Warner Bros./MGM film, which has been in the works since 2011.

Archaeologist-adventurer Lara Craft was famously portrayed by Angelina Jolie in two movie adaptations, 2001’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and 2003’s “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,” which grossed a combined $432 million worldwide.
