The filming of the new Tomb Raider series moves to Galicia, in northern Spain

The new Tomb Raider series for Prime Video, starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, will film new scenes at As Catedrais Beach, located in Ribadeo, near the border between Galicia and Asturias in northern Spain. Public access will be restricted from July 14 to 17 to allow filming to take place.

Internationally known for its massive stone arches, caves, and rock formations sculpted by the Atlantic Ocean, As Catedrais looks almost tailor-made for an archaeological adventure. At low tide, visitors can walk among giant rock pillars that resemble the flying buttresses and vaulted ceilings of a cathedral, which is where the beach gets its name.

The production is continuing its journey across Spain after filming in the historic center of Girona and at several locations in Almería, including Sierra Alhamilla, El Chorrillo, and the Tabernas Desert.

Additional filming is also expected to take place in Asturias and Marbella during the summer months, further expanding Spain’s role in this new Lara Croft adventure.
