After months of filming in the United Kingdom, the next scenes of Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series will now be shot in southern Spain, specifically in the province of Almería.

Lara Croft is officially heading to Spain, with Sophie Turner starring as the iconic adventurer in the highly anticipated Prime Video adaptation. The production is expected to begin shooting in Almería in the coming weeks, using the region’s desert landscapes and historic locations to recreate Egypt — one of the franchise’s most legendary settings.

Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), the series is shaping up to become one of Amazon’s biggest international releases for 2027.

Almería has previously served as a filming location for major adventure productions such as Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Cleopatra, Conan the Barbarian, Wonder Woman 1984 and Game of Thrones, reinforcing its reputation as one of Europe’s most iconic cinematic destinations.
